Cold Laser Therapy
Cold Laser Therapy or Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to heal tissue. Light energy from the laser effectively reduces pain and inflammation, accelerates healing in damaged tissues, relaxes muscles, and stimulates nerve regeneration. At Genesis Health and Wellness, we use Laser Therapy on patients with a variety of chronic conditions including knee pain, back pain, shoulder pain, and Neuropathy. It is a preferred alternative to drugs or surgery and has no known side effects.
How Cold Lasers Work
Cold lasers are handheld devices professionally operated by our clinicians. The laser device is placed directly over the affected area for several minutes. During the session, the infrared laser passes through the layers of the skin to interact with the tissue at a cellular level. Higher levels of ATP are produced which then increases metabolic activity in the cell, improves the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane, and initiates the release of nitric oxide. This results in a host of positive benefits including inflammation and pain reduction, muscle relaxation, and healing acceleration.
The session is completely painless and noninvasive. Patients usually begin to feel better after 1 or 2 treatments, although more sessions may be needed to resolve the problem.
